About SPAshell
The unique SPAshell concept has been developed by the expert team at Spa Creators, who have been delivering award-winning spas for businesses in the UK and abroad for more than 20 years.
Our mission with SPAshell is to deliver eco-friendly spas to country house properties, hotels with land, and golf courses, all with the minimum disruption to their business and the environment. The spas can be ready to go within three months of ordering, meaning these business can start to see ROI much faster than a traditional build.
Our parent company, Spa Creators, was established by owner Alistair Johnson, who owned and operated the Aquae Sulis spas across the UK as well as developing an international spa skin care line. Utilising his background in business consultancy, Alistair has put together a team of spa experts with over 20 years of hospitality spa experience to steer a course to project success. Our approach and industry knowledge means we deliver successful spa projects and, more importantly, a successful spa business with a strong ROI.
Alistair Johnson
Managing Director
With a background in IT, Alistair has a wealth of experience in commercial business consultancy. Using these skills, he took on the spa brand Aquae Sulis and developed a boutique spa for Ickworth Hotel, part of the Luxury Family Hotels family. This gave him the taste of developing spas and led to a career in spa design and development establishing the company. When he is not charging around the world working on exciting spa projects Alistair can be found in the Thames swimming or spending an afternoon spoiling a good walk with his golf clubs.
Nick Winfield
Senior Projects Designer
Nick has a degree in furniture design, which has allowed him to work in super yacht interior design and on the creation of architectural sculptural stair cases with organic form. He has also turned his creative flair to many high-end boutique retail window displays in London and Europe. Nick has worked for Spa Creators for over four years, and when he’s not at work he can be seen cruising the Oxfordshire countryside on his motorbike.
Liz Kerr
Projects Designer & Planning
With a background in electrical engineering design, Liz has been involved in a range of commercial and residential projects including her own self-build project. Liz has been part of the team for over three years, and was instrumental in helping steer the first SPAshell through planning. Making the most of the outdoors, Liz has a passion for all things equestrian; not only that, she is an amazing baker and a possible candidate for the Great British Bake Off.
Lucy Ellen
3D Modelling
With a focus on wellbeing, Lucy provides a holistic approach to design. With experience in complex fire systems design working in a 3D environment, Lucy is able to visualise design and turn 2D CAD into 3D stories. When not at her computer Lucy enjoys exploring mindfulness, being at one with nature, gardening and foraging – a true health ambassador.
Kath Dewhurst
Operations
Kath boasts a degree in hospitality and worked at Buckingham Palace before she moved into the luxury hotel sector. With international training from the Inter-Continental and operating experience across Europe, Kath has worked with Laura Hotels at South Lodge, followed by Luxury Family Hotels. She now works with SPA Creators implementing the Light Touch concept, and in her spare time enjoys travel and food and is a keen Bath rugby supporter.
